The Damon Payne selection is the head-turner. The Broncos reached 66 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Fifita. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
