Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chargers and Harris: B.

The Chargers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Tre Harris fell into pick No. 86. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Matavao reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick No. 22 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Aireontae Ersery at No. 55 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick86 Rnd3 Tre Harris
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tre Harris in Round 3, Pick 22, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
They did well to land Jacob Parrish in slot 125, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick158 Rnd5 Jackson Slater
Value with a capital V on Jackson Slater in pick 158, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick181 Rnd6 Upton Stout
By-the-book stuff, Upton Stout at the 181st pick squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick199 Rnd6 Woody Marks
They read the board right and Woody Marks was the payoff at the 199th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Nice patience on Jay Higgins, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick214 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
The board had Nazir Stackhouse higher than the 214th pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick256 Rnd7 Moliki Matavao
Moliki Matavao at pick 256 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
