This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jake Slaughter, the No. 55 name on the board, stolen at the Round 3 slot.

Reaching for Baynes left real value on the table behind him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
