Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall

FutureB-
The Falcons let Burton fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Falcons walked right past.
However the rest shakes out, Burton at that price is a win they earned. The cost of the Wiley reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick No. 8 they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Good price on Tyler Nubin in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jermaine Burton
You do not let a wide receiver like Jermaine Burton reach No. 74 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick79
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in pick 79 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Cam Hart slid further than he should have, and slot 109 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick112
Rnd4
Maason Smith
No edge and no loss on Maason Smith in the 112th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Nothing to complain about; Jaylin Simpson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick148
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187
Rnd6
Khristian Boyd
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Khristian Boyd at the 187th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
They went early on Jared Wiley in pick No. 197, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
