Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kiran Amegadjie got past him. The Falcons do not have to explain a thing at No. 89. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The cost of the Gentry reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Falcons indulged a want in Smith while a need in quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
