The Steelers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named interior defensive lineman, a need the Steelers walked right past.

Landing Rourke that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If Zabel pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Grey Zabel
In No. 21 they get a blindside protector, even if it was a touch early. More want than need.
Pick83 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 83 with a little surplus value in Chris Paul Jr.. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jordan James
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan James in the 123rd pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick156 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
A quiet steal in pick 156: Kurtis Rourke for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick229 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam at the 229th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
