Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B- to prove it.

The war room fell hard for Nic Scourton, and it showed at No. 4: 28 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Crenshaw-Dickson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In the 4th overall pick they get a problem off the edge, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38 Rnd2 Josaiah Stewart
They went early on Josaiah Stewart in pick 38, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick69 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
No edge and no loss on Isaiah Bond in the 69th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick77 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They took Andrew Mukuba at par in slot 77, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in No. 106 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick144 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
They jumped the gun on Antwaun Powell-Ryland, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick217 Rnd7 Karene Reid
Karene Reid at pick 217 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick220 Rnd7 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in slot 220, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick238 Rnd7 Cam Horsley
A straight-up fair deal on Cam Horsley at Round 7, Pick 22, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
