Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

The Jaguars won the night they stopped McCord from sliding. Grade: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Kyle McCord tumbling to the Jaguars in pick 142 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Ransom to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
In pick 5 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at Round 2, Pick 4 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
They did well to land Dylan Sampson in the 70th pick, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom at the 88th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick107
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Value with a capital V on Savion Williams in pick No. 107, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jake Majors
No edge and no loss on Jake Majors in No. 126; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick142
Rnd5
Kyle McCord
They will replay Kyle McCord at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
They paid a round early for Tyler Cooper in slot 182, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues is a better player than pick No. 194 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick221
Rnd7
Jay Higgins
Taking Jay Higgins in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
