Train DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Chiefs: B-. Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Chiefs to leave a draft. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The cost of the Savaiinaea reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hancock.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Jonah Savaiinaea
In slot 31 they get a blindside protector, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Quinshon Judkins
They paid sticker price for Quinshon Judkins in the 63rd overall pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick66
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott in the 66th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick95
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
No drama and no debate, Zy Alexander went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick133
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
They paid up for Aeneas Peebles at pick No. 133 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick226
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jordan Hancock at Round 7, Pick 10. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick251
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester in No. 251 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick257
Rnd7
Cody Lindenberg
No edge and no loss on Cody Lindenberg in pick 257; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
