Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall
B-

FutureB-
The Buccaneers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Buccaneers clearly saw something nobody else did in Jared Ivey, taking him 26 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Arnold pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In No. 19 they get a problem off the edge, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Jared Ivey
A wild overpay on Jared Ivey in slot 53, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick84
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter at the 84th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick157
Rnd5
James Burnip
James Burnip at pick No. 157 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick235
Rnd7
Akili Arnold
Akili Arnold in Round 7, Pick 19 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
