Train DRAFTING FOR THEBills

Draft Grade — Bills
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Bills. Hard to follow the map here. The Bills bypassed safety, edge rusher and other spots to take Maxwell Hairston at Round 2, Pick 30, a spot they had covered.
They will need Mastromanno to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Hit on Trey Amos and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Trey Amos
In the 30th overall pick they get an island corner, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick56
Rnd2
Elic Ayomanor
A premium they did not need to pay, Elic Ayomanor a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
They bypassed pressing needs at safety, edge rusher and other spots to take Maxwell Hairston, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick109
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in slot 109 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick132
Rnd4
Kobe King
A tidy little value on Kobe King in pick No. 132, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
They took Jonah Monheim at par in the 169th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick170
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
The board had cheaper options than Vernon Broughton at No. 170, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick173
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ajani Cornelius. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick177
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
Fair-plus on Kyle Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick206
Rnd6
Alex Mastromanno
A real head-scratcher, Alex Mastromanno in No. 206 is miles ahead of his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
