Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Patriots.

Nobody had Kai Kroeger this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 68 spots to get him at pick 220.

The Warren pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In pick 4 they get an island corner at fair value. More want than need.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Donovan Jackson in Round 3, Pick 5. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick77 Rnd3 Elic Ayomanor
A tidy bit of business in slot 77, where Elic Ayomanor graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick106 Rnd4 Devin Neal
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Devin Neal in pick No. 106. The roster fit checks out.
Pick144 Rnd5 Ty Hamilton
They read the board right and Ty Hamilton was the payoff at No. 144. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick171 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at pick No. 171 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220 Rnd7 Kai Kroeger
A big swing on Kai Kroeger at pick 220, well ahead of any board in the building. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaac TeSlaa. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
