Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall C-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Cardinals lost the trade table, and the C- tells the story.

The Cardinals lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It lands right in the middle: a C-, no more, no less.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Wilson.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick No. 27 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at No. 35, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick44 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell in the 44th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick71 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in the 71st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick77 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
They paid sticker price for Gabriel Murphy in pick 77, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick90 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Roman Wilson at slot 90. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick105 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in pick No. 105 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick113 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
Tyrice Knight at No. 113 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick116 Rnd4 Max Melton
A curious use of pick 116. Quarterback, running back and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Max Melton did not.
Pick137 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
They paid a round early for Javion Cohen in Round 5, Pick 1, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
