Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Jets drew a line under the quarterback search with Manning: B+.

Start where it matters. The Jets took Arch Manning to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Smith reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Landing Sabb that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Arch Manning
In No. 4 they get the face of the franchise. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36 Rnd2 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at the 36th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick104 Rnd4 Keon Sabb
The board fumbled Keon Sabb all the way to the 104th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick139 Rnd5 James Smith
James Smith in slot 139 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. at Round 5, Pick 5 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick197 Rnd6 Brandon Inniss
They robbed the room for Brandon Inniss here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick203 Rnd6 Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick210 Rnd6 Isaiah Augustave
They reached a country mile for Isaiah Augustave at pick No. 210, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick234 Rnd7 Nic Anderson
The board had Nic Anderson higher than pick 234, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick251 Rnd7 Raheem Anderson
A reach on Raheem Anderson in slot 251; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick253 Rnd7 Jaylon Braxton
Jaylon Braxton at the 253rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
