Papagaff DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals

The Bengals kept it disciplined and banked a B-. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bengals shredded theirs for Que Robinson. He came off 72 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
However the rest shakes out, Grant at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill hitter at safety. More want than need.
Pick49
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Circle this one: Kenneth Grant at slot 49 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Danny Stutsman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick119
Rnd4
Que Robinson
Que Robinson at the 119th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick153
Rnd5
Jake Briningstool
A reach on Jake Briningstool in pick No. 153; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick193
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at No. 193 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
