Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Steelers this weekend: B+.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Steelers, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

They will need Eichenberg to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Puni value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In slot 24 they get a lockdown presence outside. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Malachi Corley
A premium they did not need to pay, Malachi Corley a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick84 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A reach on Brenden Rice in Round 3, Pick 20; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick101 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
They read the board right and Dominick Puni was the payoff at pick No. 101. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick119 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at No. 119 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at pick 166 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174 Rnd5 Tanor Bortolini
The board had cheaper options than Tanor Bortolini at the 174th overall pick, and it noticed. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick178 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
A reach for M.J. Devonshire in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick195 Rnd6 Evan Williams
Evan Williams in Round 6, Pick 20 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at pick 233 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
