Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Keilan Robinson in slot 245. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Wilson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In pick 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
The board had cheaper options than Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41, and it noticed. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 2 slot on Payton Wilson with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots unsolved.
Pick88 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
A reasonable price with a little left over, Calen Bullock in Round 3, Pick 25. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Nothing to complain about; Dominick Puni went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
A premium they did not need to pay, Jarrian Jones a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169 Rnd5 Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini in No. 169 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick202 Rnd6 Solomon Byrd
Solomon Byrd at pick No. 202 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick219 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
By-the-book stuff, Garret Greenfield at pick 219 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245 Rnd7 Keilan Robinson
Value said wait; Keilan Robinson in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick255 Rnd7 Tyrice Knight
Tyrice Knight at the 255th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
