If confidence were a draft strategy, the Saints would have aced it. Decamerion Richardson at slot 227 is 91 spots clear of where he belonged. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On value alone, Johnson makes the weekend a net positive. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
