The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Mullings: B-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kalel Mullings got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at the Round 7 slot. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The cost of the Stowers reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

The Patriots indulged a want in Campbell while a need in wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
