Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA
Maye is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Everything downstream of Drake Maye depends on Drake Maye, and the building knows it. If Brooks pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

The Bishop value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick 4 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a problem off the edge, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at pick No. 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
Jonathon Brooks in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at the 75th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
No drama and no debate, Cooper Beebe went about where he belonged in slot 77. The roster fit checks out.
Pick90 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
A straight-up fair deal on Zak Zinter at the 90th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick111 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
The board had cheaper options than Darius Robinson at No. 111, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jarrian Jones. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 7: Cole Bishop for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick188 Rnd6 Trey Knox
By-the-book stuff, Trey Knox at slot 188 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
