Draft Grade — Saints
Overall

FutureB-
The Saints found their guy under center in Dart: B-. Start where it matters. The Saints took Jaxson Dart to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
On value alone, Lachey makes the weekend a net positive. The cost of the Dart reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jaxson Dart
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
By-the-book stuff, Jonah Savaiinaea at the 40th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick71
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 7 is lovely value for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick93
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at pick No. 93 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick112
Rnd4
Deone Walker
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Deone Walker in No. 112, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick131
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
A tidy bit of business in slot 131, where Cobee Bryant graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick184
Rnd6
Chimere Dike
Chimere Dike in the 184th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
The board fumbled Luke Lachey all the way to pick 248, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick254
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
They will replay Isaac TeSlaa at the 254th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
