Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Barton: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Lander Barton had no business being available in slot 204, and the Bills did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Walker lower, and that gap is the story. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 29th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
The board had Xavier Watts higher than the 60th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick61 Rnd2 Deone Walker
They went early on Deone Walker in slot 61, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick109 Rnd4 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston is a better player than No. 109 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick130 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick169 Rnd5 Nicholas Singleton
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Nicholas Singleton in Round 5, Pick 31, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick172 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They liked Dont'e Thornton Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 172. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick176 Rnd6 Sonny Styles
Somehow Sonny Styles was still sitting there in pick 176, and they pounced on premier safety value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick204 Rnd6 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at pick 204 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick206 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
By-the-book stuff, Miles Frazier at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
