Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureC
A passer of the future in Daniels, and a B, for the Patriots.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They banked enough surplus on McGlothern to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

The cost of the Legette reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 8 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
They barely believed it either: Olumuyiwa Fashanu still on the board at No. 34. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick50 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
The board had cheaper options than Patrick Paul at the 50th overall pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick51 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A real head-scratcher, Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 19 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick53 Rnd2 Ja'Lynn Polk
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ja'Lynn Polk well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick68 Rnd3 Chop Robinson
Somehow Chop Robinson was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
They went early on Christian Mahogany in slot 84, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick 110 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick136 Rnd4 Ray Davis
Ray Davis in No. 136 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kitan Oladapo
A safety of that caliber at the 182nd pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick229 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 229 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
