Draft Grade — Commanders

The Commanders let Tucker fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-. You could see the war room lean forward. Nadame Tucker at the 223rd pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The cost of the Prysock reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Dallas Turner pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jeremiyah Love in pick No. 18. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick49
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at pick 49 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick71
Rnd3
Anthony Hill Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 71st pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick82
Rnd3
Akheem Mesidor
They robbed the room for Akheem Mesidor here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick145
Rnd5
Ephesians Prysock
A big swing on Ephesians Prysock at slot 145, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick185
Rnd6
VJ Payne
They went early on VJ Payne in No. 185, and the value did not follow. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick196
Rnd6
Harrison Wallace III
Harrison Wallace III at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick223
Rnd7
Nadame Tucker
Nadame Tucker in the 223rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
