Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B+
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureB-
The Commanders let Thieneman fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Commanders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
Landing Thieneman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In pick 29 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. More want than need.
Pick61
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Dillon Thieneman in No. 61, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick71
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at Round 3, Pick 7 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick145
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. in the 145th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185
Rnd6
Josh Moten
A clean, defensible pick in the 185th pick with a little surplus value in Josh Moten. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196
Rnd6
Thaddeus Dixon
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Thaddeus Dixon at pick No. 196. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick223
Rnd7
PJ Williams
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on PJ Williams. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
