Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Commanders took Trey Zuhn III a full 22 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Landing Thompson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The back end got a real overhaul.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In slot 7 they get an enforcer at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Pick71 Rnd3 Devin Moore
Devin Moore at Round 3, Pick 7 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick145 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick185 Rnd6 Brenen Thompson
Somehow Brenen Thompson was still sitting there in the 185th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick196 Rnd6 Charles Jagusah
No edge and no loss on Charles Jagusah in No. 196; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick223 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick 223 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
