Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesD+ FutureA
The Commanders won the night they stopped Stone from sliding. Grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. David Stone, the No. 10 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 54.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The Harbor pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 KJ Bolden
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get an enforcer at safety, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick54 Rnd2 David Stone
David Stone at the 54th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick71 Rnd3 Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor in pick 71 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122 Rnd4 Justin Evans
By-the-book stuff, Justin Evans at the 122nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick123 Rnd4 A.J. Harris
A.J. Harris in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick185 Rnd6 Mason Curtis
They let Mason Curtis come to them and pounced at pick No. 185. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
