Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureA
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Commanders reached some 34 spots for Bud Clark, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
T.J. Parker
In slot 12 they get a double-digit-sack hope, reach and all.
Pick71
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad in pick 71 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick145
Rnd5
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at the 145th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick185
Rnd6
Patrick Payton
A reach for Patrick Payton in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196
Rnd6
Barion Brown
They went early on Barion Brown in pick No. 196, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick223
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
The board had cheaper options than Shamar Easter at No. 223, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
