FutureA
More right than wrong for the Commanders, and a B+ to prove it. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Commanders started one anyway for Ephesians Prysock, 40 picks ahead of schedule. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
Hurst at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah gives the group a proven body among the projects. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In slot 24 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value.
Pick39
Rnd2
Zion Young
They took Zion Young at par in Round 2, Pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick71
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Eli Stowers worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick144
Rnd5
Malik Benson
A tidy little value on Malik Benson in the 144th pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick145
Rnd5
Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock at the 145th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick147
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at No. 147 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185
Rnd6
VJ Payne
VJ Payne in pick No. 185 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick196
Rnd6
Ted Hurst
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 196 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Zuhn III well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
