Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Commanders reached some 45 spots for Trey Holly, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Branch pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 David Bailey
In No. 7 they get a double-digit-sack hope. A real need, handled.
Pick83 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malik Muhammad at pick No. 83 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick116 Rnd4 Malachi Lawrence
Malachi Lawrence at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch in slot 119 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick145 Rnd5 Treydan Stukes
By-the-book stuff, Treydan Stukes at Round 5, Pick 7 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick185 Rnd6 Miles Kitselman
No drama and no debate, Miles Kitselman went about where he belonged in the 185th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick196 Rnd6 PJ Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for PJ Williams. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick198 Rnd6 Trey Holly
Trey Holly in the 198th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick223 Rnd7 Michael Harris
This one needs a full-page explanation: Michael Harris in slot 223, miles early. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
