The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Drake Maye gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The cost of the Mertz reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Roberts value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
