Larceny in the 139th pick lands the 49ers a D, Williams and all. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the 49ers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
Majors has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Landing Williams that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In pick No. 11 they get a load in the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick14
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in pick 43 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick45
Rnd2
Josaiah Stewart
A premium they did not need to pay, Josaiah Stewart a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at Round 3, Pick 11 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at No. 112 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick138
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Terrance Ferguson in the 138th overall pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick139
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Circle this one: Savion Williams at pick No. 139 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jacob Parrish
They barely believed it either: Jacob Parrish still on the board at Round 5, Pick 9. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
