Draft Grade — Commanders

A solid, sensible weekend for the Commanders: B-. The Jacory Croskey-Merritt pick is the one that will follow the Commanders into the fall. They took him 37 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Princely Umanmielen
They paid sticker price for Princely Umanmielen in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick61
Rnd2
Darien Porter
A reach for Darien Porter in Round 2, Pick 29; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jaylin Lane
Jaylin Lane in slot 128 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205
Rnd6
Kain Medrano
They liked Kain Medrano enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 205. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jacory Croskey-Merritt
They talked themselves into Jacory Croskey-Merritt at pick 245, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
