The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on West: B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. CJ West, the No. 189 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 227th pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
