Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Saints kept it disciplined and banked a B. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Saints took Oluwafemi Oladejo at slot 93, roughly 50 spots before his name belonged.
The Restrepo pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Nic Scourton
By-the-book stuff, Nic Scourton at the 40th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick71
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott in Round 3, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick93
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo at the 93rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick112
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in No. 112 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick131
Rnd4
Xavier Restrepo
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Restrepo reach slot 131 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
A tidy little value on Ajani Cornelius in No. 184, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick248
Rnd7
Dante Trader Jr.
Fair-plus on Dante Trader Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick254
Rnd7
Mac McWilliams
Mac McWilliams at pick 254 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
