Draft Grade — Jets

The Jets cashed the board's mistake on Paul Jr.: B-.

The Jets spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Chris Paul Jr., the No. 80 name on the board, in the Round 4 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. McLaughlin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan in pick No. 7 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick42 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in the Round 2 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick73 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They went early on Andrew Mukuba in slot 73, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Chris Paul Jr.
The board fumbled Chris Paul Jr. all the way to No. 110, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick145 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke at the 145th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick162 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
A premium they did not need to pay, Seth McLaughlin a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
They did well to land Jaydon Blue in the 186th pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick207 Rnd6 Upton Stout
Upton Stout at pick 207 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
