Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall
B-
ValueC+

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Broncos: B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Broncos reached some 42 spots for Darius Alexander, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at pick No. 51 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick85
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
They paid sticker price for Gunnar Helm in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
You do not let a safety like Lathan Ransom reach the 122nd pick and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick191
Rnd6
Raheim Sanders
Value with a capital V on Raheim Sanders in slot 191, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
They paid up for Jay Higgins at pick 197 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick208
Rnd6
Simeon Barrow Jr.
A big swing on Simeon Barrow Jr. at Round 6, Pick 32, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
