Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
C+
ValueC+
NeedB-

FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Bengals, and a C+ to match. The Bengals looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Barryn Sorrell at the 119th pick regardless, 53 picks early.
The Sorrell pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with cornerback, tight end and other spots still on the board. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Noel falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Hit on Mike Green and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Mike Green
In pick 17 they get a premier pass rusher, even if it was a touch early. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
They paid sticker price for Alfred Collins in the 49th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at slot 81 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119
Rnd4
Barryn Sorrell
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 119 on Barryn Sorrell with cornerback, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick153
Rnd5
James Burnip
They went early on James Burnip in the 153rd pick, and the value did not follow. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick193
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
