Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
The Bears let Winston Jr. fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bears watched Kevin Winston Jr. slide 24 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In pick 10 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Booker. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick49 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau in Round 2, Pick 17 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 72nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick119 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick148 Rnd5 Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles at slot 148 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233 Rnd7 Dante Trader Jr.
Dante Trader Jr. at pick No. 233 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick240 Rnd7 Ja'Corey Brooks
Value with a capital V on Ja'Corey Brooks in No. 240, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
