Quarterback settled, Sanders in the fold, and a F for the 49ers.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The 49ers reached some 48 spots for Cooper Mays, and value like that does not grow back.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Trapilo falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.

In pick 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick10 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 10 they get a centerpiece for the ground game, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick100 Rnd3 Savion Williams
Savion Williams at the 100th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick119 Rnd4 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at the 119th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in Round 4, Pick 36 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.

Joshua Gray in No. 147 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
