Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The 49ers robbed the room for Marks. Final grade: B+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Woody Marks at No. 227 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Adding Caelen Carson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
They read the board right and Jihaad Campbell was the payoff at the 43rd overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jack Bech
Fair-plus on Jack Bech, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick76 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
By-the-book stuff, Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 12 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
No drama and no debate, Jared Wilson went about where he belonged in pick No. 100. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113 Rnd4 Cobee Bryant
They paid up for Cobee Bryant at slot 113 when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick138 Rnd4 RJ Harvey
A tidy bit of business in pick 138, where RJ Harvey graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick147 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
They paid a round early for Luke Kandra in No. 147, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick149 Rnd5 Kyle McCord
Kyle McCord in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick160 Rnd5 Andres Borregales
They took Andres Borregales at par in pick 160, which is nothing to complain about. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick204 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at slot 204 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Woody Marks
They will replay Woody Marks at the 227th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick249 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Isaac TeSlaa in pick No. 249. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick252 Rnd7 Dante Trader Jr.
The board had Dante Trader Jr. higher than Round 7, Pick 36, and the safety fell to them anyway. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
