FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Bills. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bills took Jalen McLeod a full 41 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want.
The Alexander pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with offensive lineman, wide receiver and other spots still on the board. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In slot 30 they get an enforcer at safety, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in No. 56 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
They jumped the gun on Maxwell Hairston, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick109
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
A curious use of Round 4, Pick 7. Offensive lineman, wide receiver and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Zy Alexander did not.
Pick132
Rnd4
Rylie Mills
No edge and no loss on Rylie Mills in pick No. 132; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod at pick 169 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick170
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
