FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Raiders, and a B to prove it. The Raiders put a flag in the ground for Isaiah Jatta, 34 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The McAlister pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
In No. 2 they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Ty Simpson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ty Simpson at pick No. 33. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick36
Rnd2
Colton Hood
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Colton Hood at the 36th pick is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67
Rnd3
Josiah Trotter
Nothing to complain about; Josiah Trotter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick102
Rnd4
Genesis Smith
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 2, where Genesis Smith graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick117
Rnd4
Cyrus Allen
No edge and no loss on Cyrus Allen in pick 117; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick134
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at pick 134 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick174
Rnd5
Sam Roush
Sam Roush slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 36 is lovely value for the tight end. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick180
Rnd6
Terion Stewart
Terion Stewart in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick183
Rnd6
David Gusta
They went early on David Gusta in No. 183, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick209
Rnd6
Isaiah Jatta
Isaiah Jatta at the 209th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick219
Rnd7
Eric McAlister
The board fumbled Eric McAlister all the way to the 219th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick242
Rnd7
Diego Pavia
Diego Pavia in pick No. 242 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
