Draft Grade — Lions
Overall

The Lions did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Lions clearly saw something nobody else did in Bryce Boettcher, taking him 51 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In slot 17 they get a lockdown presence outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
LT Overton
They liked LT Overton enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 50. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick118
Rnd4
Bryce Boettcher
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryce Boettcher. It fills a real need, too.
Pick155
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner in Round 5, Pick 17 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick186
Rnd6
Matt Gulbin
Matt Gulbin slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick203
Rnd6
VJ Payne
A tidy bit of business in pick 203, where VJ Payne graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd6
Toriano Pride Jr.
Toriano Pride Jr. in the 212th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick222
Rnd7
Aiden Fisher
A conviction pick on Aiden Fisher at Round 7, Pick 6 that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
