GWG5 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Jaguars: B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Jaguars spent No. 124 on Red Murdock, a name the board had a full 64 spots lower.
On value alone, Lew makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Germie Bernard
A conviction pick on Germie Bernard at the 56th overall pick that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick81
Rnd3
Connor Lew
They let Connor Lew come to them and pounced at slot 81. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick88
Rnd3
Derrick Moore
They paid up for Derrick Moore at the 88th pick when waiting would have done the job. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jude Bowry
Value said wait; Jude Bowry in pick No. 100 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124
Rnd4
Red Murdock
A big swing on Red Murdock at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol slid further than he should have, and No. 162 is lovely value for the tight end. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick164
Rnd5
J'Mari Taylor
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing J'Mari Taylor in No. 164. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick233
Rnd7
Andre Fuller
No edge and no loss on Andre Fuller in Round 7, Pick 17; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick245
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
