Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C
ValueA- NeedA- TradesF FutureA+
The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a C.

Call it larceny. Azareye'h Thomas sat on the board until Round 7, Pick 38, and the Browns did not need to be asked twice. For now it grades a C, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In pick 12 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick67 Rnd3 Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart is a better player than No. 67 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jake Majors
The board had cheaper options than Jake Majors at Round 3, Pick 30, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick104 Rnd4 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 104th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd6 Elic Ayomanor
Steal is underselling it; Elic Ayomanor at No. 179 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick192 Rnd6 Elijah Arroyo
You do not let a tight end like Elijah Arroyo reach pick No. 192 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Pick200 Rnd6 Devin Neal
Taking Devin Neal in slot 200 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd6 Alfred Collins
Somehow Alfred Collins was still sitting there in pick 216, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick254 Rnd7 Azareye'h Thomas
Circle this one: Azareye'h Thomas at the 254th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
