ataylorrocker DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns bet the future on Sanders. The board says B. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Browns started one anyway for David Bailey, 77 picks ahead of schedule. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Majors falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick No. 2 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67
Rnd3
David Bailey
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for David Bailey. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in the 94th pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick103
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the 103rd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick165
Rnd5
Cody Simon
Cody Simon at No. 165 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick181
Rnd6
Jake Majors
Circle this one: Jake Majors at Round 6, Pick 3 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jacob Parrish
A real head-scratcher, Jacob Parrish in the 194th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick202
Rnd6
Antwane Wells Jr.
A tidy bit of business in slot 202, where Antwane Wells Jr. graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick216
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
Somehow Luke Lachey was still sitting there in pick 216, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick217
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
Good price on Hayden Conner in No. 217, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick257
Rnd7
Bryson Eason
They reached into another round for Bryson Eason, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
