Draft Grade — Rams

A solid, sensible weekend for the Rams: B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Rams did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most.

Reaching for Scourton left real value on the table behind him. Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick90 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter at pick 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick101 Rnd3 David Walker
David Walker in slot 101 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick127 Rnd4 Nohl Williams
Value with a capital V on Nohl Williams in pick No. 127, a genuine coup. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick190 Rnd6 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at the 190th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Nothing to complain about; Jaylen Reed went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick201 Rnd6 Woody Marks
A tidy little value on Woody Marks in Round 6, Pick 25, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick202 Rnd6 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the 202nd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
