The tape said wait; the 49ers did not. Phillip Webb went at the 147th pick, a good 191 picks before the board was ready.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Gadsden II. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with quarterback still staring back at them.
