Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueA NeedB- TradesD- FutureB-
The Patriots robbed the room for Milum. Final grade: C+.

The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Wyatt Milum fell into the Round 7 slot. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Spending an early pick on cornerback with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Hit on Travis Hunter and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the 4th pick they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
Pick38 Rnd2 Ashton Jeanty
Somehow Ashton Jeanty was still sitting there in pick No. 38, and they pounced on premier running back value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jahdae Barron
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jahdae Barron adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots untouched.
Pick76 Rnd3 Walter Nolen
Steal is underselling it; Walter Nolen at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick77 Rnd3 Malaki Starks
You do not let a safety like Malaki Starks reach slot 77 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick105 Rnd4 Grey Zabel
Grey Zabel at Round 4, Pick 4 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick145 Rnd5 Jihaad Campbell
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 145 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick219 Rnd7 Wyatt Milum
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Wyatt Milum in the 219th overall pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick222 Rnd7 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in slot 222 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick240 Rnd7 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in pick 240 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
